Restore your smile with dentures

Ask just about anyone who has received dentures or implants if they are happy, and they will tell you that it was one of the best decisions they ever made. Replacing missing teeth can give back your ability to eat foods without embarrassment, speak clearer, and even make you look years younger. At Albrecht Family Dentistry in West Bend, Wisconsin, we offer several different denture options to fit a wide range of needs and budgets.

Partial Dentures

If you are missing just a few teeth in a row, partial dentures can be a great solution. They have a gum-colored base made of either acrylic or metal, and they are anchored in place by natural teeth and can be attached to natural teeth with either clasps or precision attachments.

At first, there is an accustoming period where your partial dentures may feel strange or bulky. With time, you will become more used to wearing them. Over time, partial dentures may need to be adjusted to account for changes in your mouth.

Conventional and Immediate Complete Dentures

Complete dentures are used when patients are missing an entire arch of teeth. When total tooth loss occurs, it can cause facial sagging, making you look older. Natural-looking dentures can help you retain your usual facial features and improve your ability to eat and speak.

After removing natural teeth, the entire area will need to heal before dentures can be made and placed. That can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks. Immediate dentures are made before the teeth are extracted and placed immediately upon removal. Because gum tissue will shrink during healing, adjustments will have to be made after several weeks.

Implant-supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures are considered the golden standard in tooth replacement and are the most permanent solution. The first step is for the implants to be surgically placed in the jaw and then left to heal. This healing period, known as osseointegration, is when the bone fuses around the implant to keep it firmly in place. Once ready, the custom fabricated dentures can be attached to the implants.

Replacing missing teeth will not only give you back a beautiful smile, but it will also improve your oral health and give you the confidence to eat and speak without worry. If you are in West Bend, WI, call us at (262) 357-6622.
