Do you have painful, sore, or inflamed gums? See a dentist immediately, as these could be symptoms of gum disease. If left untreated, gum disease can cause significant damage, including receding gums and tooth loss. At Albrecht Dentistry, we are excited to offer gum disease treatment to patients in and around West Bend, Wisconsin. Early interventions by Dr. James (Jim) Albrecht and the team can prevent uncomfortable and damaging symptoms.
Gum disease manifests in several ways, depending on the extent of the infection. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek treatment right away.
If you experience any of these signs, don’t wait. Gum disease is progressive and can cause severe damage without proper treatment.
Gum disease doesn’t just affect your oral health—it can have far-reaching consequences on your systemic health. We emphasize treating gum disease as fast as possible before it causes damage. Our office uses a conservative approach to gum disease treatment. Gingivitis—the earliest stage of gum disease—responds favorably to standard cleanings followed by diligent at-home oral hygiene.
If gum disease doesn’t respond to conservative interventions, the dentist administers deep teeth cleaning, which includes:
Scaling and root planing (SRP) stops the progression of gum disease and promotes healthier gums. As healing begins, you’ll likely notice significant improvements—your gums will become less swollen, bleeding will subside, and your breath will improve. Over time, SRP helps restore gum health, prevent further damage, and protect the foundation of your smile.
Don’t fear gum disease treatment because of pain. Treatment is largely comfortable because we use modern tools and effective pain management techniques. Deep cleanings may cause mild discomfort, but local anesthetics and gentle techniques make the experience much more comfortable than many expect.
The best treatment is no treatment at all. We emphasize prevention to protect your smile from gum disease. Here are steps you can take to maintain a healthy smile.
Maintaining a healthy smile means keeping your gums in excellent condition. If you suspect gum disease, take action immediately. Call (262) 357-6622 and reserve an appointment with Albrecht Dentistry. Let’s help you achieve the optimal gum health you deserve.
